Week 6 – Strengthening a Company’s Competitive Position: Strategic Moves, Timing, and Scope of Operations.

This week we learnt strategic options to improve a company’s market position (offensive strategy) and defensive strategies which in protecting market position and competitive advantage. The company needs to choose the basis for competitive attack and which rival to attack. The special kind of offensive is blue ocean strategy, its mean your company have more advantage than any rival. In simply word, no rival do what your company do. The best way to offensive the rival is use capabilities and resources of company to attack rivals through ‘surprise’ way by rival’s weaknesses.

The purposes of defensive strategies are to lower the risk of being attacked and weaken the impact of any attack that occurs. The important thing of strategy is to protect company’s position by two actions which are actions to block challengers and actions to signal the likelihood of strong retaliation. The other things we learn in this chapter are benefits of strategic alliances, its advantages and horizontal and vertical scope and so on.

That’s all I can share in this chapter..I think this chapter is quite difficult for me to understand huhuhu hopefully, I enjoy when I read it later..
